So today’s musical meme is first dance.
Up to this point I still haven’t gotten around to getting married. Maybe I’ll consider adding that to my bucket list. Maybe we should try it at least once. But if I was to get married I think this would be perfect. Not usually sappy or sentimental, but I just can’t resist this song. Absolutely gorgeous.

Fun fact: Tenochtitlan fell in 1521. From 1603 onwards, large numbers of honest-to-god fricking Japanese Samurai came to Mexico from Japan to work as guardsmen and mercenaries.
Ergo, it would be 100% historically accurate to write a story starring a quartet consisting of the child or grandchild of Aztec Noblemen, an escaped African slave, a Spanish Jew fleeing the Inquisition (which was relaxed in Mexico in 1606, for a time) and a Katana-wielding Samurai in Colonial Mexico.
Also a whole bunch of Chinese Characters BECAUSE MEXICO CITY HAD A CHINATOWN WITHIN TEN YEARS OF THE FALL OF THE AZTEC EMPIRE.
Fun Fact: Both Hawaii and Mexico had the whole “cowboys” period before (and after!) the US did. King Kamehameha brought Mexican vaqueros to Hawaii and this formed Paniolo (Hawaiian for Espanol) culture. Parker Ranch, in Hawaii, was the largest single-owner ranch in America for decades.
Just another historical tidbit that would be cool to see represented in a movie.

“Oops, dropped your coat!” You cheerfully pick up the soft fur coat off the floor and carefully drape it back over the person’s chair. They stare at you with wide, stunned eyes. They’re remarkably attractive. You awkwardly wave at them and go sit down at your table.
They’re a selkie, you “gave” them back their coat, you now have a gorgeous and besotted selkie spouse. Hey, they don’t make the rules.
The next day, the attractive person you met shyly approaches you and gives you a little box with a ring inside. You blush, a little confused, and stare at them.
“I… Isn’t this… An engagement ring?”
“Well… We… We should get married by human customs as well.”
“… What?”
